News and Updates!

Hey Folks,
We’ve got a BUNCH of new features to start rolling out!
I’ll list them here with a little explanation of each one.

1) 2015 Top ten standings are now able to be viewed on the nadac.comsite under the Titles and Awards tab.

This isn’t too exciting since that list has been out for awhile, but the exciting part is that the 2016 Top Ten will be able to go straight to the website and not the forum. Making it a LOT easier to access for everyone. Also with the new page you can search for your dogs name and see where they placed in all the different groups ūüôā

2) Hall of Fame updated.
Also now able to view under the Titles and Awards tab.
We did change the layout a bit. It’s not as fancy as before, but the feedback we were getting was that it was so bandwidth heavy that people had a hard time viewing it anyway. So it wasn’t really pretty if you didn’t have a high speed connection. So we sacrificed a little vanity to make it easier to view for everyone.
Another extra bonus is that I can update this one MUCH easier than the old one. So I will be able to get any pictures updated and new entries to the Hall of Fame updated monthly rather than every 6 months.

3) 2015 Team winners now have their own page.
It’s listed under the hall of fame tab on the dropdown.

4) 2016 Team standings can now be viewed online!

The team stuff we’re talking about if you aren’t aware is a competition you can sign up for where you and two other team mates would be competing all year long in three different divisions. Those divisions are shown on the new page which can also be found under Titles and Awards.

5) Awards list.
We now have a full list of all awards you can earn in NADAC and what is needed to earn them! It also includes a little section on Titles and Title abbreviations to help out the new folks who might now understand it too well ūüôā

6) Updated Title Checklist.
It has now been updated to include all the current NADAC classes.

7) Video runs tab is now on the NADAC.com site. Along with a link to the forum.

8) Also in case anyone missed it the address for the forum has changed to: nadac.com/forum

That should be it, I may have forgotten a couple things as I have been working on all of this the past couple months and my mind is a little crazy right now!
If you notice anything wrong with any of the updates I have listed above please email us at Support@nadac.com so we can get it fixed.

We hope you all enjoy the new options and we’ll see you at a trial near you!

Cheers,
Chris Nelson

NADAC Bonus Program Updates

During the past six months, I have run several S & S trials, talked with as many bonus handlers as possible.  A lot of input was gained from the S & S trials and evaluating why they were so successful and eagerly attended.  From months of data collection, discussions with handlers and evaluations of runs, we have modified the current bonus program.  Hopefully this will address some of the concerns of current bonus handlers and give a bigger picture of the bonus runs and also encourage more handlers to get involved in the NADAC bonus program!

As stated in the first post, a team which is successful on a bonus run should display skills of speed, distance, directional challenges and discrimination tests.  Teams should be able to handle from a variety of positions and be able to overcome course challenges using the above skills.

One of the frustrations from those accepting the challenges of a bonus attempt is the total lack of any error on a course.  That is what made the S & S trials so popular, the possibility that there could be a minor error and still receive some credit for an otherwise successful run.

We have tried to address those concerns with our latest update.¬† With the new format we can give full credit to those teams that display all facets of the bonus program that include distance, speed, directional and discrimination skills.¬† If a team has a run that has a minor deduction for speed, or a redirect or resend.¬† If a team has multiple deductions, they most likely will not receive any “extra” qualifying points, but they can still get credit for having handled the run from a bonus area if they have minor errors.

As with our original point format the highest value is put on the Regular Agility class.  More extra bonus points are possible from the Regular Agility class than what can be earned from the special skills classes of Chances, Jumpers, Touch N Go, Tunnelers and Weavers.

A breakdown is as follows:

Regular Agility class Р30 point run.  A clean run from the 30 point area and with a RI of 100 or higher with no minor errors.

Regular Agility class Р25 points   A run from the 30 point area with a RI of 100 or more and includes a minor error for a five point deduction.  A minor error could include one knocked bar, a minor resend that restarts forward motion (such as a slight halt/hesitation above the contact area) or a minor redirect (a minor redirect could be a dog that needs starts to leave the flow of the course and needs an additional cue to remain in the flow of the course).

Regular Agility class Р20 point run.  A run from the 30 point area with a RI of 100 or more and both a knocked bar and a minor resend/redirect.

Regular Agility class Р20 point run.  A clean run from the 30 point area with a run index of less than 100.

Regular Agility class Р20 point run.  A clean run from the 20 point area with a RI of 100 or more.

Regular Agility class Р15 point run.  A run from the 20 point area with a RI of 100 or more and a minor error as described above.

Regular Agility class Р15 point run.  A run from the 20 point area with a RI of less than 100.

Chances Р20 point run.  A clean run from the 20 point area.

Chances Р15 point run.  A run with a minor error.  Knocked bar is not allowed.

Jumpers, Touch N Go, Tunnelers, and Weavers 20 point run.  A run from the 20 point area with a RI of 100 or more.

Jumpers, Touch N Go, Tunnelers, and Weavers 15 point run.  A run from the 20 point area with a RI of 100 or more and a minor error as described above.  A knocked bar is not allowed.

Jumpers, Touch N Go, Tunnelers, and Weavers 15 point run.  A run from the 20 point area with a RI of less than 100.

Recently handlers could only earn a 15 point bonus run in Chances, Jumpers, Touch N Go, Tunnelers and Weavers.  In Regular, handlers could only earn either a 15 or a 20 point bonus run.  Now Regular Agility can be from a 15 to a 30 point run depending on the distance, speed and accuracy of the run.  Now the non-Regular classes can earn either a 15 or a 20 point bonus, depending on the speed, distance, and accuracy of the run.

We will be timing the videos and calculating correct course yardage on videos submitted on all future videos.  If yardages appear to be closer than normal yardage (21 ft between obstacles) then our yardage might differ from the yardage submitted at the trial.

We will be updating past bonus runs to reflect the point system above.  It is possible that I would review other videos back to June 1, 2014 if you have a very recent video of a run with a minor error.  Please be aware that the resend or redirect must be a minor error and the dog must still be close to the correct flow of the course!

Amanda Nelson and Try earn their PURPLE Achievement Cup

The long drought since 2006 has finally been overcome by Amanda Nelson and Try!  It has been 8 years since a dog has earned a PURPLE Achievement Cup.  Only two dogs in NADAC history have ever accomplished this feat.  Sharon Nelson and Lucky earned 6 Purple Achievement Cups in their career and Becky Woodruff and Chirp earned their Purple Achievement Cup.  Then came great dog after great dog that came close but never quite were ever able to reach the toughest pinnacle in NADAC awards.

Then on Sunday, Amanda Nelson and Try stepped to the line to make history!  They have already earned their Silver Achievement Cup and their Gold Achievement Cup awards.  This team had just completed their Gold Achievement Cup requirements on Friday!

Everyone held their breath as they stepped to the line.  Amanda was nervous and Try was READY to attack the course.  And they ran one of the most beautiful runs I have seen in years!

What an amazing team that shows grace, beauty and total love for each other when they work together!

History has been made that the Purple drought of 8 years is over!  Congratulations to Amanda and Try, a team that not holds a special place in the history books of NADAC!

Updates to the Bonus Program – MODSQUAD updates

We are adjusting the bonus program some and most competitors have noticed that non-Regular classes only have bonuses that are 15’s.¬† 20 point bonuses can only be earned on a Regular Agility course.

The Regular Agility class requires performance on ALL obstacles and is the true heart of agility.  All other classes have a more limited use of the type of obstacles on the course and in most cases they are a shorter course.  Even if not shorter for some, they are a limit of the type of obstacles being tested.

Regular is never a “short” course and always tests a full variety of obstacles and directional and discriminations.

We adjusted the bonus program last year to reflect the Purple Achievements, Gold Achievements and Silver Achievements.  We will also adjust the MODSQUAD requirements to the following:

Silver MODSQUAD, three bonuses in each class.  Regular must be ALL 20 point bonus runs.  All other classes can be either 15 or 20 point bonuses.  At least ONE of the three bonuses must be a 100+ run index. (except Chances which has no run index).

Gold MODSQUAD, three bonuses in each class.  Regular must be ALL 20 point bonus runs.  All other classes can be either 15 or 20 point bonuses.  At least TWO of the three bonuses must be a 100+ run index. (except Chances which has no run index).

Purple MODSQUAD, three bonuses in each class.  Regular must be ALL 20 point bonus runs.  All other classes can be either 15 or 20 point bonuses.  ALL of the three bonuses must be a 100+ run index. (except Chances which has no run index).

These modifications to the bonus program will open up the bonus program to many more competitors.¬† We feel great with the current direction of the bonus program and it’s continued growth!

NADAC Team Competitions

Hi, competitors!
Get your friends together and form a Team for the upcoming Top Teams in one or all three of the NADAC class groups!

We will be tracking team scores for the "JC Teams" (jumping classes) which will consist of the top five yearly scores for all three team members in the Regular and Jumpers classes.  Each team member will have 5 jumpers scores and five Regular Agility scores used for scoring.  Their scores will come from the Elite level and their run index will be used to calculate scores.

We will be tracking team scores for the "TW Teams" (Touch N Go/Weavers classes) which will consist of the top five yearly scores for all three team members in the Touch N Go and Weavers classes.  Each team member will have 5 Touch N Go scores and five Weavers scores used for scoring.  Their scores will come from the Elite level and their run index will be used to calculate scores.

We will be tracking team scores for the "EGC Teams" (Extreme Barrelers and Extreme Hoopers classes) which will consist of the top five yearly scores for all three team members in the Extreme Barrelers and Extreme Hoopers classes.  Each team member will have 5 Extreme Barrelers scores and five Extreme Hoopers scores used for scoring.  Their scores will come from the Elite level and their run index will be used to calculate scores.

We have chosen two classes for each Team grouping that shows a diversity of skills within each group and within each class.

Scores for the year 2014 will be calculated from May 1st to Dec. 31st.  For future years the scores will be used from January 1 to December 31.  New team totals will be posted to the forum and NADAC web site every two weeks.

The tracking of scores will cost $25 per dog per team.  Total cost per team is $75 per team group.

A dog can be on a different team for each group.  So a dog could have different team members for the JC team than what they have for an EGC team or a TW team.

A dog does not have to be on all types of teams, they could be on one team only if desired.

A team will receive a 5 point bonus for each 15 point bonus run by a team member.  A team will receive a 10 point bonus for each 20 point bonus run by a team member.  So the team members score would be run index +5 or run index +10 for their score for that run for the team score.

Teams need to submit team names for each group.

A team could consist of three dogs all handled by the same person.

A team may have a maximum of one substitution during the year with a veterinary letter stating that one dog is unable to compete in agility.  A second substitution is not allowed.

Find some friends and join a team!  Team names are required, team shirts are encouraged!!
